Summer CSA 2017: Week 3

This week, we received: purple asparagus, rainbow chard, carrots, turnips, and broccoli (peacock variety, which is not as pretty as the seed catalog led our farmer to believe).

When I chatted with the farmer on pick-up day, he said to me, “Everything in there is pretty normal.” He must know how much I love familiar veggies!

We ate the carrots raw and steamed the broccoli – the farmer warned us that it is a little bitter.

Scott grilled the asparagus with some chicken.

I added the rainbow chard to some whole-wheat couscous.

And the turnips … are still in the crisper.
